'If we stay quiet...', Rohit Shetty's advice on Delhi riots

    What's the story

Last week, the national capital was hit by one of the worst communal riots in decades, witnessing a large number of deaths and massive destruction of property.

While people across the country are weeping over the deadly clashes, the smarty-pants Rohit Shetty believes that the best thing would be to stay silent over the matter.

Here's more on what the filmmaker said.

    Details

The best thing would be to stay silent, Rohit said

Rohit was asked to speak about the issue at the trailer launch event of his upcoming cop movie Sooryavanshi.

He said, "The best thing right now for all of us would be to stay calm...It's easy to talk about what people have gone through there while doing an event here. So, the best thing, right now, for entire India would be to stay silent."

    Quote

'If we stay quiet, things will fall in place'

The director added, "Everyone has been talking and chaos is increasing. If we stay quiet, things will fall in place."

"There's a chief minister, others are there. Has anyone seen riots? You'll be s**t scared. One should never engage in it. I can give a lecture...But right now, we should stay silent about it for a few days...Until it is sorted, let's not speak."

    Quote

There is no police brutality in my film, Rohit added

Rohit was also asked if his movie showcases or glorifies police brutality. To this, the director replied, "Police brutality hai hi nahin meri film mein. Tu galat film dekh ke aayi hai. [There's no police brutality in my film. You have watched the wrong film]."

    Riots

At least 46 people were killed in Delhi riots

For the unversed, several parts of Delhi's northeast region witnessed large-scale violence last week.

After pro-CAA and anti-CAA protests turned violent, people clashed and burned down houses, vehicles and other property.

According to latest reports, the death toll in the clashes has risen to 46.

Meanwhile, Delhi police has registered over 250 FIRs and detained or arrested more than 900 people in the matter.
