    What's the story

After a complaint was lodged against Jeetendra by her cousin for sexually assaulting her 47 years ago, the Shimla Police have registered an FIR against the veteran actor.

The victim had written an email to Himachal Pradesh Director General of Police SR Mardi demanding legal action against Jeetendra.

The Police will now record the woman's statement as part of their investigation.

    Quote

    Shimla's Superintendent of Police confirms

"An FIR under Section 354 IPC has been registered at Chotta Shimla Police Station. After her email, we got in touch with the complainant, who later had also sent us a written complaint to support her version," Shimla's Superintendent of Police confirmed.

    Details

The allegations were made last month

In her complaint, Jeetendra's cousin mentioned that he had invited her to Shimla on the sets of a film he was shooting. Later during her stay, he came drunk to her room and sexually assaulted her.

She was 18 while Jeetendra was 28 at that point in time.

The actor, whose real name is Ravi Kapoor, is the son of the victim's father's sister.

    Defense

Jeetendra had refuted the sexual assault charges

Soon after the allegations were levelled, the actor's lawyer issued a statement categorically denying any such incident.

"Such baseless, ridiculous and fabricated claims cannot be entertained by any Court of law after a span of almost 50 years. The timing of this baseless complaint seems to be nothing but a miserable effort to disrupt the business activities of my client," it read.
