Salman Khan firing case: Police track down shooters' bike owner

    What's the story

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is in buzz after two unidentified individuals on a motorcycle targeted the actor's Bandra residence on Sunday.

The assailants fired four shots outside the actor's home, triggering an immediate police response. A First Information Report (FIR) was lodged and a comprehensive investigation involving detectives and forensic specialists was initiated.

Mumbai Police have now traced an important update pertaining to the case.

    Investigation

Salim Khan's take on the incident

The Mumbai Police have confiscated the motorcycle used in the attack on Khan's residence.

The vehicle, a secondhand motorcycle from Raigad district, has led them to its original owner who is currently under questioning.

Despite this significant breakthrough, the assailants involved in the shooting incident remain at large.

In response to the shooting incident, Khan's father Salim Khan told CNN News 18, "There is nothing to tell. They just want publicity, there is no need to worry."

    Suspect profile

Suspected criminal from Gurugram linked to incident

An official source from Delhi Police has suggested that one of the suspects may be a notorious criminal from Gurugram.

This individual, implicated in numerous crimes including murders and robberies in Haryana, is also a suspect in the murder of businessman Sachin Munjal earlier this year.

Reportedly, he has ties with gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi, his brother Anmol, and Goldy Brar.

    Claim

Alleged gangster claimed responsibility for shooting: Report

An unverified Facebook post by Anmol suggested that he was claiming responsibility for the shooting.

He wrote in Hindi, "We want peace. If the only decision against oppression is war, then so be it. Salman Khan, we have only shown you a trailer so that you understand the magnitude of our strength and do not test it. This is the first and last warning."

    Motive

Khan and Bishnoi's tiff over the years

Bishnoi has reportedly targeted Khan due to his role in the 1998 black buck hunting incident, which Bishnoi alleges insulted the Bishnoi community.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) disclosed last year that Khan was among Bishnoi's top 10 targets.

Since 2022, Khan has been under Y+ security cover provided by the Maharashtra Police.
