    What's the story

R Balki's Ghoomer, starring Abhishek Bachchan and Saiyami Kher, was selected for a special premiere at the Uzbekistan Film Festival.

Released in theaters on August 18, 2023, the movie has won hearts with its emotional performances.

The Embassy of India in Tashkent recently hosted the festival, featuring women-centric films that emphasize inspiring female characters and their contributions to shaping society's worldview.

The festival happened in honor of International Women's Day, which was celebrated earlier this month.

    Actor's reaction

Kher expressed joy over 'Ghoomer's selection

According to NDTV, Kher, who was present at the festival, said she was glad Ghoomer was selected.

She said, "Ghoomer is not just a film for me; it's an emotion. The journey of playing a differently-abled sportsperson who defies all odds to pursue her dreams was a transformative experience."

"I am thrilled that the film was screened at such a meaningful festival and the experience was truly incredible being there in person."

    Festival participation

Kher celebrated strong female characters at the festival

Kher was thrilled to be included in the festival, diving head-first into the event, engaging with audiences, and celebrating the cinema that empowers and inspires.

She added, "As an actor, witnessing Ghoomer being part of a festival that celebrates strong female characters makes me incredibly proud."

The Uzbekistan Film Festival seeks to strengthen cultural ties between India and Uzbekistan while celebrating the power of storytelling to redefine perspectives on women's empowerment.

    Film details

'Ghoomer' is now streaming on Zee5 for audiences to watch

Ghoomer follows the journey of a young cricketer whose dreams are shattered after a life-changing accident. Just when all hope seems lost, a former cricketer with his own struggles steps in to train her unconventionally.

Directed by Balki, the film stars Bachchan, Kher, Shabana Azmi, and Angad Bedi. The film received critical appreciation and multiple Filmfare nominations.

Now, Ghoomer is available to watch on Zee5.
