#HealthUpdate: Done with fourth chemo-cycle, Irrfan Khan talks about life

    What's the story

The biggest takeaway from Irrfan Khan's interview after he was diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour is this- the man is staying positive, and fighting the rare form of cancer will smile, sans complaints.

Irrfan is undergoing treatment in London, and he had his fourth chemo cycle, recently.

"I have to have six cycles and then we need to have a scan," Irrfan told AP.

    Irrfan's journey

There's no guarantee of life, says Irrfan

He revealed that after the third chemo cycle, the scan was positive. But only after the sixth cycle will it be known where life takes him.

"There's no guarantee of life with anybody," he said.

He then went on to say life offered him so much. "I admit I was walking around with blinders. I couldn't see what it offered me," he added.

    The fear

Speaking about initial days, Irrfan says he was extremely vulnerable

Irrfan said these are certain challenges which life threw, and recalled that initially he was shaken, and didn't know anything.

But gradually he realized that there were other ways to look at life, and said that nature was the most trustworthy.

"What is in my hand, I could take care of that. And it offers so much that you feel thankful," he said.

    Quote

Even 30 years of meditation wouldn't have helped me: Irrfan

"I would have never reached that state even if I had done meditation for 30 years, I wouldn't have reached it. But this sudden jolt has put me into a platform where I could look at things in a completely different manner," Irrfan quipped.

    Time spent

So, what are Irrfan's days like? He tells

Irrfan said he didn't plan his day like he used to earlier. "I go for breakfast and then I don't have a plan. I take things as they come," he said.

He confessed he was never good at unpredictability or spontaneity, but these things were helping him now.

He added people don't try new things. "And I'm trying and I'm loving it," Irrfan said.

    Positivity

Irrfan is only thankful, has no other demands

Irrfan, who is not reading any scripts, said this experience was surreal. He added clarity came as a lightning after the jolt.

"You stop your contemplation, you stop your planning, you stop the noise. You see the other aspect of it," he said. No other demands, no other prayers!

If this doesn't define positivity, nothing else does. Get well soon, Irrfan Khan.
