Rajkummar Rao, Huma Qureshi to star in Sriram Raghavan's next

    What's the story

Actors Rajkummar Rao and Huma Qureshi are reportedly teaming up for Sriram Raghavan's next film, Monica O My Darling. The film will release on Netflix.

The title is inspired by the hit song from the 1971 film Caravan, which featured actress Helen.

Produced by Raghavan and Sanjay Routray under the Matchbox Pictures banner, the movie will be directed by Vasan Bala.

    Details

Rao and Qureshi will be seen opposite one another

Interestingly, both Rao and Qureshi have worked together in Gangs of Wasseypur 2 but did not share the screen space.

Even though details of the story have been kept under the wraps, it is reported that the film will be a comedy set in an office space.

The movie's director Bala had earlier garnered appreciation for the 2018 action-comedy Mard ko Dard Nahi Hota.

    Netflix

Both the stars have worked on Netflix originals earlier

Rao, who is riding high on the success of his latest Netflix venture The White Tiger, also starred in the Netflix release Ludo. He was seen opposite Fatima Sana Shaikh.

Qureshi had also collaborated with the streaming giant for her dystopic drama Leila by Deepa Mehta, which had released in 2019.

The series invited trouble when some netizens claimed that it portrayed Hinduism poorly.

    Information

Raghavan is known for his gritty movies

Raghavan, who started his career with the psychological thriller Ek Haseena Thi, has managed to carve a niche for himself.

His last offering — the 2018 release Andhadhun starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Tabu — was loved by viewers and critics.

In 2019, it was reported that he would be working on a movie on the life of the youngest Param Vir Chakra recipient Arun Khetrapal.

    Details

Meanwhile, Netflix recently announced its slate for 2021

Earlier this month, Netflix had announced its slate of releases for 2021.

The list included over 40 titles ranging from films, shows, reality TV, etc. spanning languages.

Apart from the new titles, the streamer also brought back shows like Little Things, Delhi Crime, Jamtara, and others.

The Raghavan venture is in its pre-production stage and could go on the floors next month.
