Madhavan to play a 40-year-old virgin in upcoming Netflix film
What's the story
R Madhavan and Fatima Sana Shaikh have started shooting for their first-ever collaboration, a love story tentatively titled Tharki.
The story focuses on a one-of-a-kind May-December romance where Madhavan's character, a middle-aged virgin, meets a younger woman on a dating app.
Directed by Vivek Soni of Meenakshi Sundareshwar fame, the film promises to be an unconventional and modern take on relationships.

A source close to the project revealed to Mid-day, "Madhavan plays a virgin, who is in his mid-40s. He comes across Fatima's character, a woman in her early 30s, on a dating app and how the two fall in love forms the crux of the story."
"It's a quirky and contemporary take on the relationship."
The film also stars Namit Das as Madhavan's confidant and has a special appearance by Karan Wahi.

'Tharki' marks Madhavan's return to romantic comedies
Tharki marks Madhavan's return to the rom-com genre after almost a decade, his last rom-com being Tanu Weds Manu Returns in 2015.
"Madhavan's fans in the Hindi audience have always enjoyed his romantic comedies, be it the Tanu Weds Manu franchise or Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein [2001] that found a wide fan base over the decades," an insider said.
The source added that Tharki will be a refreshing change for fans after his serious roles in Shaitaan and Rocketry.
Production details
'Tharki' filming schedule and release platform revealed
The filming for Tharki started in Mumbai in early November and will continue in Kolkata this December.
Produced by Karan Johar's Dharmatic Entertainment, the film will be released on Netflix.
Meanwhile, Shaikh has another project lined up with Anurag Basu titled Metro... In Dino.
