Academy dismisses sexual harassment charges against president John Bailey

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has issued a statement saying that president John Bailey has been cleared of sexual harassment charges.
The investigation into the matter has now been closed and Bailey will continue to be the Oscars chief.
Bailey, 75, was elected as head of the institution in August last year.

Here's what the Academy said in its statement
"The Committee unanimously determined that no further action was merited on this matter. The findings and recommendations of the committee were reported to the Board which endorsed its recommendation. John Bailey remains President of the Academy," the statement read.
Details
Bailey had denied the allegations
While he did not speak up on the matter publicly, Bailey sent a memo to the Academy stating, "That did not happen."
It was alleged that the veteran cinematographer tried to touch an actress inappropriately while in a transport van on a movie set, more than a decade ago.
The Academy had immediately resorted to launching a probe after it received the complaint.
