    What's the story

The upcoming Telugu film Thandel, starring Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi, has reportedly bagged a lucrative streaming deal with Netflix.

The OTT platform has bought the rights for a whopping ₹65cr, according to 123Telugu. The deal comes ahead of the film's theatrical release on Friday (February 7).

Thandel's director Chandoo Mondeti revealed during promotions that more than half of its budget has already been recovered.

'Thandel' to stream on Netflix post-theatrical run

The film, made on a budget of ₹90cr, will start streaming on Netflix after 50 days of its theatrical release.

In their statement, Netflix confirmed that Thandel will be available in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi languages after its cinema run.

In Thandel, Chaitanya plays a fisherman, and his paycheck is said to be between ₹15-20 crore. Co-star Pallavi was allegedly paid ₹5 crore, which is more than her fee for her last film Amaran.

    Plot details

'Thandel' explores fisherman's journey and survival drama

Thandel narrates the tale of a fisherman, played by Chaitanya, from Srikakulam who faces immense challenges after drifting into Pakistani waters.

The film delves into his journey, the difficulties he encounters during a fishing trip, and the struggles he and other fishermen undergo to return home to their families.

While it reportedly includes patriotic elements, its primary focus remains on survival drama.
