MrBeast makes history! Dethrones T-Series; becomes YouTube's most subscribed channel

    What's the story

After a fierce showdown, internet sensation Jimmy "MrBeast" Donaldson has clinched the title of the most subscribed YouTuber, surpassing Indian music label T-Series.

For those not in the loop, MrBeast and T-Series have been locked in a heated rivalry for the crown of YouTube supremacy for quite some time.

This achievement comes after a year and a half of intense effort to close an over 100M subscriber gap.

    Rapid growth

    MrBeast's journey to YouTube supremacy

In early 2023, Kansas native Donaldson pledged to avenge fellow Swedish YouTuber PewDiePie, who was overtaken by T-Series in 2019.

At that time, he had 127M subscribers compared to music label, T-Series's 233M.

Now, boasting a staggering 267M subscribers on YouTube as of Sunday, Donaldson has officially surpassed T-Series (266M subscribers).

His rapid growth is attributed to his boundary-pushing content and record-breaking achievements.

    Challenge

When Donaldson 'challenged' T-Series CEO to a 'boxing match'

On May 17, MrBeast threw down the gauntlet with a boxing challenge aimed at T-Series' CEO in a tweet.

Notably, T-Series is headed by Bhushan Kumar, who serves as the Managing Director and Chairman.

In the post, MrBeast openly called out the music label's CEO, declaring, "I challenge the CEO of T-Series to a boxing match."

Fast forward to Sunday, the 26-year-old YouTuber took to X once again, triumphantly announcing, "After six long years, we've finally avenged PewDiePie."

As expected, MrBeast's announcement sent shockwaves across the internet, with his tweet amassing over 5M views and more than 231K likes in just a matter of hours.

Even the CEO of the social media platform, Elon Musk, joined in to congratulate the content creator, exclaiming, "Wow, congrats!"

Amid the frenzy, MrBeast's loyal fans flooded the comments section, hailing him as "the greatest YouTuber of all time."

Donaldson is not only known for his YouTube content but also for his philanthropic efforts. He has donated millions through his non-profit charity, Beast Philanthropy.

Additionally, he ventured into the business world with Feastables—a chocolate bar that quickly sold out in Walmarts across North America.

Recently, he announced a search for 5,000 participants for "the largest game show ever in history," offering a staggering $5M prize with Amazon Prime Video's Beast Games.
