    What's the story

Mission Impossible is one of the most successful Hollywood franchises.

Over the years we have seen Tom Cruise play the charming and resourceful IMF agent Ethan Hunt, who handles potentially globally catastrophic situations.

After the success of their latest film, Fallout, we had reported that Paramount Pictures had approved of two more Mission Impossible films.

Now their release dates have been revealed.

    Years

Release years for the 'Mission Impossible' movies were revealed first

Mission Impossible, the action franchise, first revealed the release years of the upcoming movies.

2021 and 2022 were decided for the seventh and eighth installments of the film.

Notably, Christopher McQuarrie is returning to direct both the films which are going to be shot back to back.

This makes McQuarrie the only returning director in the history of the Mission Impossible franchise.

    Information

Release dates revealed for upcoming movies

On Friday, February 1, the studio announced the release dates for the seventh and eighth films. While Mission Impossible 7 will hit theaters on July 23, 2021, Mission Impossible 8 is going to arrive on screens on August 5, 2022.

    Cruise roles

Tom Cruise shows no signs of slowing down

Cruise has been with the Mission Impossible franchise since it kicked off in 1996.

Since then he has only gotten bolder with his stunts as Hunt.

He has used a combination of tricks, misdirection, muscle and some fantastic bike chases to maintain global peace and world order.

With two more films lined up, 56-year-old Cruise is showing no signs of slowing down!

    Opinion

Franchise's success prompted the two back to back movies

As we mentioned, the two upcoming Mission Impossible films will be shot back to back.

The studio decided to extend full support to the franchise following its commercial box office success, earning $790 million or Rs. 5,611 crore worldwide.

The earnings proved that the franchise had the potential to be a crowd-puller, convincing Paramount Pictures to greenlight these two new franchise films.
