Malaika-Arbaaz's son Arhaan's reaction to her divorce is matured, heart-warming

    What's the story

It was in 2017 that Malaika Arora and Arbaaz Khan called off their 19-year-old marriage.

After remaining tight-lipped over it for long, Malaika recently spilled the beans on her divorce with Arbaaz.

In her recent interview, the 45-year-old Chaiyya Chaiyya dancer opened up on her unhappy marriage and also revealed how her 16-year old son Arhaan reacted to their divorce.

    Here's what she said.

    Statement

Malaika, Arbaaz ensured Arhaan took their divorce positively

Getting divorced is no cakewalk for a couple and things become more stressful with a child.

However, Malaika and Arbaaz made sure that Arhaan took everything in a positive manner.

"I would want to see my child in a happy environment than be subjected to an environment that is completely disruptive. With time, my child is far more accepting and far happier," Malaika added.

    Reaction

Arhaan, with time, realized that his parents were happy post-divorce

Malaika further added that she was in a miserable marriage, and Arhaan could see that she and Arbaaz were happier after parting ways.

In fact, Arhaan once told Malaika how he was glad to see his mother happy post-divorce.

"He did actually turn around one day and he did say that to me, 'Mom, it's good to see you happy and smiling'," Malaika stated.

    Divorce

'It was better off that we moved our separate ways'

Talking about her divorce, Malaika said that taking the big step wasn't easy for the two.

However, they chose to part ways mutually as it was best for both of them.

"It was better off that we moved our separate ways. Because we were two people in a situation making each other extremely unhappy which was impacting everybody else's life around us," Malaika said.

    Decision

What happened the night just before the divorce?

Malaika also mentioned that her family wasn't that supportive.

In fact, the Munni Badnaam dancer was asked to give her decision a second thought just a night before the divorce.

"Nobody really encourages you to go right ahead. Even the night before the divorce, I had my family sit with me and ask me, are you sure? I heard this all along," she recalled.

    Information

Malaika got Arhaan's custody post divorce, Arbaaz visitation rights

Notably, after getting divorced, Malaika got Arhaan's full custody while Arbaaz was granted complete access to his son whenever he wants. Besides, Malaika neither asked for any alimony from Arbaaz nor did she demand any share of his property. They maintain cordial terms post-divorce.

    Moving on

Malaika finds love in Arjun Kapoor, Arbaaz in Italian model

After getting divorced, Malaika found love in Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor and the two are going strong with their relationship.

In fact, if gossip mongers are to be believed, they are likely to tie the knot soon.

However, an official confirmation is still awaited.

On the other hand, Arbaaz has also moved on with his life and is currently dating Italian model Giorgia Andriani.
