    What's the story

The funeral of former pop star and One Direction member, Liam Payne, was held in the UK on Thursday.

The singer sadly passed away last month in Argentina after a drug-related incident at a hotel.

His family, friends, and bandmates attended a private ceremony to bid him farewell.

Amid this sad occasion, fans dug up an old post by Payne on X (formerly Twitter) that has now gone viral.

Payne's eerie tweet resurfaces, fans express disbelief

In the now-viral post, Payne (31) had eerily asked in 2010, "If I died would you come to ma funeral...?"

This message has been inundated with comments from grieving fans who are shocked and saddened by his untimely demise.

One fan posted photos of One Direction members - Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson at Payne's funeral with the caption: "Your brothers came, Liam."

Another user couldn't believe it saying: "Can't believe this is real. Heartbreaking."

One Direction reunited at Payne's funeral

The funeral also served as a bittersweet reunion for the surviving members of One Direction after nearly nine years apart.

Malik, Styles, Tomlinson, and Horan were present at the ceremony to pay their final respects to their former bandmate.

Among other notable attendees were TV host James Corden, Payne's girlfriend Kate Cassidy, and Cheryl Cole—the mother of his son.
