    What's the story

Days after the dastardly Pulwama attack shook the nation on February 14 killing 40 soldiers, Lata Mangeshkar extended a massive financial help to the Indian soldiers.

The legendary singer announced a donation of Rs. 1 crore to the Indian Army.

Reportedly, Lata will hand over the donation on the death anniversary of her father, Master Dinanath Mangeshkar, on April 24.

    Here's more on this.

    Statement

For Lata, this is a small contribution for the jawans

Talking about the donation, Lata stated that it is her small effort to help the Army jawans who sacrifice their lives for the country without any second thoughts.

"Many people in the industry always help soldiers who sacrifice their lives for the nation. Even now, people from the industry are helping out. We have also announced something from our end," she was quoted saying.

I stand with the martyrs' families, Lata after Pulwama attack

    Request

'Don't send me birthday presents, spend that money for jawans'

Lata also urged her fans to support the initiative and extend financial help to the Indian Army soldiers as a gesture of gratitude.

Notably, this isn't the first time she has made such an appeal.

"Earlier, on my birthday, I had appealed to people that instead of sending me bouquets, gifts, spend that money for jawans. People positively reacted to my appeal," she added.

    List

Akshay, Amitabh, among others to extend help to Indian soldiers

With her noble gesture, Lata joined the legion of Bollywood celebrities, including Akshay Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Diljit Dosanjh, rapper Badshah, who have donated for the martyrs of Pulwama attack.

Akshay also vowed to donate Rs. 5 crore through Bharat Ke Veer, a fundraising initiative by the Indian government.

Bachchan announced to give Rs. 5 lakh to each of the soldiers' families.
