Kalank, which was slated to release on April 19, will now release on April 17.

    Reason

The idea is to capitalize on extended weekend

According to a Mumbai Mirror report, the makers took the decision so as to encash on the extended weekend.

"The idea is to capitalize on Mahavir Jayanti as well as Good Friday, besides Saturday and Sunday. It's an extended weekend. And going by past records, it's a good time for a big film to release," a source was quoted saying.

    Competition

'Kalank' to enjoy a 9-day free run

The source further stated that it's a well thought through business idea to advance the opening of Kalank.

Although an official announcement about the new release date is awaited, if the reports turned out to be true, it will give Kalank a 9-day free run at the box-office.

It won't be facing any competition until the release of Avengers: End Game on April 26.

    Posters

Meanwhile, first look posters look mesmerizing

Meanwhile, the makers have unveiled the lead characters of the movie in two segments - 'Men Of Kalank, Women Of Kalank'.

As expected, the first look posters bowled the audience with its charm and royalty.

Each character looked its best in the posters and left the audience craving for more.

Notably, the movie is said to be a period drama set in the 1940s.

    Statement

The movie is special for producer KJo

Earlier, Karan Johar also released an intriguing scene from the movie on Instagram and stated that Kalank is quite special to him.

He got emotional as he revealed that this project was started by his late father Yash Johar around 15 years ago.

"A film I passionately believe in. The last film my father worked on before he left us," Karan had stated.

'Kalank' is a story of undying love and turbulent relationships

KJo further stated that while it was his father's desire to make the movie, he is glad to fulfill his dream.

"Set in the 40s but it's heart lives on," he added.

Kalank stars Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead.
