Jesse Eisenberg is done with Zuckerberg—and we totally get it

    What's the story

Jesse Eisenberg, who famously played Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network, has slammed Zuckerberg's recent moves.

Speaking to BBC Radio 4's Today program, Eisenberg said he feels uncomfortable being associated with the Meta founder as he believes his actions are problematic and could endanger marginalized people.

He said, "It's like this guy is...doing things that are problematic, taking away fact-checking."

    Fact-checking controversy

Eisenberg criticized Meta's decision to replace independent fact-checkers

Eisenberg's criticism comes after Meta announced last month that it would no longer use independent fact-checkers on its social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram.

Instead, the company intends to launch "community notes," a system that lets users question the accuracy of posts.

The decision comes after Zuckerberg, now CEO of Meta, claimed third-party moderators were "too politically biased" and pushed for a return to "free expression."

    Tech influence

Eisenberg voiced concerns over tech giants' influence

Eisenberg also raised alarm over the influence of tech giants like Zuckerberg, Elon Musk, and Jeff Bezos.

He questioned their use of wealth, implying it was being used to curry favor with those preaching hate.

"These people have billions upon billions of dollars...and what are they doing with it? Oh, they're doing it to curry favor with somebody who's preaching hate," Eisenberg said.

    Career update

Eisenberg's current projects and personal life

Eisenberg is currently on the promotional trail for his Oscar-nominated film, A Real Pain, which he wrote and directed.

He also stars in the movie, alongside Kieran Culkin, Jennifer Grey, Will Sharpe, and Ellora Torchia.

The film has been well-received at several film festivals and is now available on Amazon Prime Video.
