'Hera Pheri' to re-release on 25th anniversary? Producer reveals

Firoz A Nadiadwala, the producer of the iconic Bollywood comedy Hera Pheri, has now put an end to speculation about a possible re-release of the film.
The movie, which features Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, and Suniel Shetty, will celebrate its 25th anniversary later this month.
Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Nadiadwala opened up about his plans for a possible re-run in theaters.

When asked about a possible re-release, Nadiadwala said, "This is a decision I'll not take alone. On paper, I am the owner of the film, but morally, Akshay ji, Paresh ji, and Suniel ji also own the film as much. So, we'll jointly take the decision."
He was confident that if they do re-release it, it will "lead to a storm at the box office."
Hera Pheri will complete 25 years on March 31.

Nadiadwala emphasized the timelessness of Hera Pheri and its sequel Phir Hera Pheri, even without any deliberate attempt to keep the films alive.
He said that this has occurred organically over the last 19 years since Phir Hera Pheri (2006) and 25 years since Hera Pheri came out.
The producer also recognized their cult status in meme culture, crediting writer Neeraj Vora's witty dialogues.

How Vora maintained actors did justice to his lines
Nadiadwala credited the success of Hera Pheri to writer Vora, highlighting his one-of-a-kind style of delivering dialogues.
He remembered how Vora would keenly watch shots on set and step in if he thought the actors weren't doing justice to the lines.
"When the actors would retort (that) they said the dialogue that was written, and Vora would tell them how to narrate it," shared Nadiadwala.
Sequel announcement
Meanwhile, 'Hera Pheri 3' is officially in the works
Earlier this year, director Priyadarshan officially announced Hera Pheri 3, with Kumar, Rawal, and Shetty reprising their roles.
The news has sent fans of the franchise into a tizzy, as they have been waiting for the return of their beloved characters.
While no further details about the plot have been revealed yet, reports suggest it will target a 2026 release date.
