    What's the story

A contestant on the popular comedy show India's Got Latent, hosted by comedian Samay Raina, is in legal trouble.

An FIR has been lodged against Jessy Nabam for her controversial remarks on the dietary habits of people in her home state of Arunachal Pradesh.

In a recent episode, when Raina asked Nabam if she had ever eaten dog meat, she replied she hadn't but claimed it was a common practice in Arunachal.

    Controversial comments

'They even eat their pets at times'

Further elaborating on her claim, Nabam said, "I know because my friends eat it. They even eat their pets at times."

Although the panel of judges, including Balraj Singh Ghai, initially thought her remarks were a joke, she insisted they were true.

The episode also had comedians Akash Gupta and Mallika Dua as judges.

Videos of the incident soon spread across social media and went viral.

FIR details: Derogatory remarks made about Arunachal Pradesh's indigenous people

The FIR against Nabam was lodged by Armaan Ram Welly Bakha, a Seppa resident in Arunachal Pradesh's East Kameng District.

In the complaint, addressed to the officer in charge of Itanagar Police Station, Bakha alleged that Nabam made derogatory remarks about the indigenous people of Arunachal on the YouTube show.

A copy of the FIR, dated January 31, 2025, has been circulating on social media.

    FIR statement

'I request you that please take quick action...'

Reportedly, the FIR reads, "I request you that please take quick action in this matter for in the future no one could do it again like Jessy Nabam did."

Till now, neither Raina nor any other panelists have publicly reacted to the FIR reports.
