    What's the story

Eduardo Xol, a renowned designer known for his work on ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, has tragically passed away at the age of 58.

Per reports, the designer succumbed to injuries sustained from a stabbing incident on September 10.

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department confirmed that he died last week on Thursday at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, California.

    May he rest in peace.

    Medical condition

    Xol's injuries and subsequent hospitalization

Xol, who was a singer and an actor before appearing in Extreme Makeover, was reportedly found by police with "significant injuries" following the stabbing incident. He had called for help himself and was discovered in a Palm Springs apartment.

Upon being taken to the hospital, he was described as being in a "serious but stable condition." However, despite medical intervention, he could not survive his injuries.

    Arrest made

Suspect arrested in connection with Xol's stabbing

Richard Joseph Gonzales, a 34-year-old man from Cathedral City, California, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in relation to Xol's case.

Interestingly, Gonzales had called the police on the day Xol was found, claiming to be a victim of an assault that occurred the previous night.

However, after further investigation, he emerged as a suspect and was detained at John Benoit Detention Center in Indio without bail.

    Career overview

Xol's career in television and acting

Xol joined the cast of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition during its second season in 2004 and continued to star in the show until Season 8 ended in 2011.

As mentioned, in addition to his design work, he was also a singer and actor.

His acting credits include roles in several Televisa telenovelas during the 1990s such as Acapulco, Cuerpo y Alma, Sentimientos Ajenos, and La Jaula de Oro.

    Mourning period

Xol's family and friends mourn his tragic loss

Xol's family expressed their grief in a statement to PEOPLE, saying, "We are heartbroken at the tragic loss of our beloved Eduardo Xol. As his family, we know that his kindness has touched the lives of so many."

They requested privacy during this difficult time and suggested donations to the Lupus Foundation of America in lieu of flowers.

His friend Richard Perez-Feria also paid tribute to him on Instagram.
