What's the story
The final season of Netflix's popular series, The Umbrella Academy, presents a unique challenge for the Hargreeves siblings-dealing with losing their superpowers.
In the past three seasons, the siblings might have battled apocalypses and time-traveled but they had their powers to rely on.
Showrunner Steve Blackman recently spoke about navigating these challenges in S04, revealing Victor (Elliot Page), who didn't know his powers for the longest time, will be the most comfortable with this drastic change.

Stripped of superpowers: Hargreeves siblings' new normal
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Blackman said, "The first place I started with S04 was: What happens if you were once a superhero and suddenly you're not? What does that do to you?"
The loss of superpowers, which were integral to their identities, will mark a significant shift in the narrative.
All siblings except Victor—Luther (Tom Hooper), Diego (David Castañeda), Alison (Emmy Raver-Lampman), Klaus (Robert Sheehan), Number Five (Aidan Gallagher), Ben (Justin H. Min)—have only known life with superpowers.
Adjusting well
Hargreeves siblings aside, this character will also not have powers
To recall, Victor had his powers suppressed by Sir Reginald Hargreeves (Colm Feore) since childhood, while his siblings played superheroes.
As Victor went from discovering his powers and struggling to control them in the previous seasons, it will be a fresh change to see him adjusting better than any of his siblings to their new reality.
Lila (Ritu Arya), now a fixed companion of the Hargreeves siblings, will also be missing her powers.

The third season of The Umbrella Academy saw the siblings take on the Sparrow Academy members in an alternate reality with yet another end of the world awaiting them.
In the end, Alison went her separate way, Deigo and Lila teamed up, and the rest were left figuring out how to take on Sir Reginald.
While we don't know what's in store, it's clear that the siblings cannot survive on their own and will have to get back together.

S04 arrives in August; know how many episodes it'll have
A teaser image from Season 4 released in February showed them gathering together after losing their powers.
Apart from the main bunch, actor Cazzie David is expected to reprise her role as Sparrow Number 6 or Jayme Hargreeves. Nick Offerman, Megan Mullally, and David Cross will star in the final season.
The much-anticipated final season of The Umbrella Academy is set to premiere on Netflix on August 8.
It'll have six episodes.
