'Really bad': Dylan O'Brien recalls his 'Frozen 2' audition
Hollywood actor Dylan O'Brien recently appeared on Late Night With Seth Meyers, where he shared a hilarious anecdote about his unsuccessful audition for the 2019 animated film Frozen 2. The Teen Wolf star admitted that he didn't have high expectations going into the audition, as he was aware that the film required "multi-talented, multi-hyphenate people who can act and sing."
O'Brien's singing skills put to the test
During his audition, O'Brien was asked by the casting director to reach the chorus of a song to demonstrate his vocal range. The actor confessed that he struggled with the first verse, but attempted to hit higher notes as requested. "I remember, actually — this is a specific detail — she asked me, painfully, if I could get to the chorus because she needed to see if I had a certain range." He described the outcome as "really bad."
'Thank you for coming in,' casting director told O'Brien
Recalling the casting director's reaction, O'Brien said, "I think so, because when she said to me, 'Okay, okay.'.. She said two 'okays.' I'll never forget it." He continued, "And then she said, 'Thank you for coming in. I think we'd probably need a bit of a stronger singer,' and I was already just nodding, going, 'Yeah, I know.' I was like, 'Thanks for having me.'"
'I honestly only remember it fondly,' says O'Brien
Despite the unsuccessful audition, O'Brien maintains a positive outlook on the experience. "I honestly only remember it fondly," he shared. The actor playfully added, "And then I'm glad that's what they chose for you to ask me about." Host Seth Meyers responded with a quip, saying, "We wanted you to have closure. Don't you see, Dylan?" The Frozen films are streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
