'Devara's Hindi theatrical rights sold for ₹45crore: Report

    What's the story

Koratala Siva's Devara: Part 1 is among the most anticipated films of the year and is expected to make a lot of noise at the box office.

Per a recent Pinkvilla report, the film, starring Jr NTR, Saif Ali Khan, and Janhvi Kapoor, has sold its Hindi rights for ₹45cr to AA Films.

The title will be presented to the audiences by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions and is set to release on October 10, 2024.

    Revenue expectations

'Devara: Part 1's high stakes in the Hindi market

To justify its hefty price tag, Devara: Part 1 needs to gross over ₹100cr in the Hindi markets, reported Pinkvilla.

If the film resonates with Hindi-speaking audiences and earns more than this coveted amount, NTR and his team stand to gain an additional share from the profits.

Despite the disappointing performance of Siva's last film Acharya, this promising deal indicates the confidence that Hindi distributors have in Devara: Part 1, mostly due to NTR's fame after RRR.

    Pre-release business

'Devara: Part 1's colossal pre-business deal

Per the same report, Devara: Part 1 has reportedly secured a massive pre-business deal worth ₹400cr. This includes satellite, music, digital, and dubbing rights.

Its worldwide pre-release theatrical business is around ₹200cr.

Coupled with an additional ₹150cr expected from non-theatrical rights, the movie appears to be a safe bet for producers given its budget of around ₹200-250cr.

Given NTR's stardom in the South Indian belts, the film should have no problems registering a mammoth opening there.

    Ensemble cast

'Devara: Part 1': A multilingual release with star-studded cast

Devara: Part 1 will mark Kapoor's first Telugu film and feature Ali Khan as the main antagonist.

The film also includes an ensemble cast of Prakash Raj, Shine Tom Chacko, Srikanth, and Narain.

It is the first installment of a two-part film series and will be released in five languages, including Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, and Kannada.

Apart from Acharya and Devara: Part 1, Siva is known for movies such as Janatha Garage and Mirchi.
