After impressing the audience with her performance in Padmaavat, Deepika Padukone is all set for her next challenge, Chhapaak.
Notably, this film is based on acid attack survivor, Laxmi Agarwal's story, and Deepika will be seen playing Laxmi on screen.
The actress is currently busy shooting for the movie, and a video from the sets of Chhapaak has gone viral on social media.
Look
Vikrant will play the role of a social activist
In the video, Deepika aka Malti from Chhapaak is seen riding a bike along with actor Vikrant, who plays the role of a social activist and Laxmi's partner Alok Dixit in the movie.
While Deepika's look as an acid attack survivor is clearly visible, the video also shows glimpses of Vikrant's look.
Vikrant will be sporting a heavy beard for his role in Chhapaak.

Story
'Chhapaak' is a story of Laxmi's triumph in life
For the uninitiated, Chhapaak will feature the story and struggles of Laxmi, the poster girl of acid attack survivors in India.
Laxmi was attacked in 2005 by a 32-year-old man named Gudda aka Naeem Khan whose proposal she had rejected. She was 15 then.
Laxmi's face and other body parts were naturally disfigured in the attack, but it didn't diminish her courage and poise.

'Chhapaak' is Deepika's maiden production, Meghna Gulzar to direct it
Since Chhapaak is based on a strong story, Deepika is evidently excited and stated that the film would narrate a story of trauma, triumph and indomitable human spirit.
In fact, in one of her interviews, she revealed that she agreed to the movie within five minutes of narration.
Interestingly, this will also be her maiden production venture.
Meghna Gulzar will be directing this film.

Gulzar had said earlier that Deepika would be unrecognizable in the film, and we agree with her. Meanwhile, Chhapaak will hit the screens on January 10, 2020. It will witness a box office clash with Ajay Devgn's Tanaji, also starring Kajol.
