    What's the story

'Breaking Bad' is undoubtedly one of the most popular and perhaps the best-made television shows to exist.

The show which aired on AMC ran for 5 seasons and was a phenomenal success.

Now it seems as though the franchise is expanding and a 'Breaking Bad' movie is in the works.

Though details about the project remain unclear, but here's what we know so far.

    Project details

All the project details that we know

Vince Gilligan, the man who directed 'Breaking Bad' is working on the movie, which is expected to run for two hours.

Sources have reported that Gilligan is going to write the script, possibly direct it and be the executive producer.

He will be joined by executive producers Melissa Bernstein and Mark Johnson, who worked on 'Breaking Bad' and its prequel 'Better Call Saul'.

    Do you know?

What will the new movie be about?

The film, which is rumored to be titled 'Greenbrier' will follow the story of an escaped kidnapped man's quest for freedom. Production should begin this month in New Mexico. Their film office confirmed a project bearing the 'Greenbrier' title will be shot in the region.

    Unclear details

    The details that remain unclear

Since the project is in the early stages, some details remain unclear.

We do not know whether the movie will have a theatrical release or air on television.

Further, we are unsure whether the movie's events will be set before or after those of 'Breaking Bad' and whether Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul will reprise their roles as Walter White and Jesse Pinkman, respectively.

    Opinion

The changing landscape of television industry

The upcoming movie marks the first project stemming from the new three year deal between Gilligan and Sony TV, that was made in July for less than $50 million.

At a time when top talents are being courted by streaming giants Netflix, Sony TV has been fighting an uphill battle.

They will be pinning their hopes on the success of Gilligan's project.
