    What's the story

Brad Pitt's yet-to-be-titled F1 movie has reportedly surpassed a staggering budget of $300M during its production phase, potentially making it one of the most expensive films ever produced.

The film distinguishes itself from other F1 movies with its unique fictional plot.

Notably, some significant scenes were shot during actual races, featuring Pitt himself driving a modified Formula 2 car at the British Grand Prix weekend.

The film doesn't have a title yet.

    SAG-AFTRA strike

Strike and production delays inflated the film's budget

The film's budget was significantly impacted by the 118-day SAG-AFTRA strike, resulting in production delays, reported Hollywood media.

This has pushed the break-even point for the film to a staggering $750M!

The release date is still uncertain due to the challenges faced by the producers during this period.

It's being directed by Joseph Kosinski, known for his critically acclaimed films such as Top Gun: Maverick, Tron: Legacy, and Oblivion.

    Star power

Lewis Hamilton and Dawn Apollo's significant contributions

Seven-time F1 champion Lewis Hamilton has made significant contributions to the film.

He holds a substantial share in Dawn Apollo, the company producing the film.

In addition to his financial involvement, Hamilton also reportedly stars in the movie, adding another layer of authenticity to this high-budget project.

He earlier told GQ, "I felt my job really has been to try to call BS. 'This would never happen.' 'This is how it would be.' 'This is how it could happen."

    Storyline

Plot and cast details of the high-budget F1 film

The film's plot centers around a veteran F1 driver, portrayed by Pitt, who makes a comeback to racing and is teamed up with a young racer played by Damson Idris.

The fictional team at the heart of the film is named APXGP, as indicated by stickers on the modified car driven by Pitt.

Both lead actors were seen interacting with drivers during filming at the British Grand Prix in 2023.
