'Thappad' expected to record a decent opening weekend collection
Reportedly, Thappad had a low occupancy in morning shows but witnessed growth in the evening and night shows.
While the movie could collect just Rs. 3.07 crore on Friday, positive word-of-mouth publicity might improve its box office numbers over the weekend.
Notably, Thappad marks the second collaboration between writer/director Anubhav Sinha and Taapsee, after the widely acclaimed 2018 drama Mulk.

At the box office, Thappad is competing with movies such as Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan and Bhoot: The Haunted Ship, both of which released last week.
While Ayushmann Khurrana and Jitendra Kumar-starrer Shubh Mangal has so far minted Rs. 46 crore, Vicky Kaushal's first-ever horror flick Bhoot has collected just around Rs. 24 crore by end of its first week.
