Box office: 'Crew' crosses ₹65cr mark despite experiencing a dip

    What's the story

The female-led heist comedy Crew, starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Kriti Sanon, and Tabu, saw a decline in its box office collection on day 15.

Facing stiff competition against recent releases—Maidaan and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan—Crew managed to rake in only ₹85 lakhs on Friday.

Despite the recent dip, the movie—directed by Rajesh Krishnan—has already crossed the ₹100cr mark globally and is nearing the ₹70cr mark domestically.

    Context

    Why does this story matter?

Backed by Ektaa Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor, Crew features Tabu, Kapoor Khan, and Sanon as air hostesses who decide to undertake a daring heist amid financial woes and struggles.

The film skillfully blends humor, drama, and glamor, making it an attractive choice for moviegoers.

Despite the recent dip in earnings on day 15, the movie continues to engage audiences with its unique mix of friendship, allure, and thrill.

    Earnings report

'Crew' has amassed ₹65.75cr at the domestic box office

This week has been sluggish for Crew, with earnings of only ₹1.75cr on Monday, followed by ₹2.15cr on Tuesday, and further drops to ₹1.6cr and ₹1.15cr on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.

An additional ₹85 lakhs on Friday brought the film's total to ₹65.75cr.

Notably, it maintained an overall 18.89% Hindi occupancy, outperforming Ajay Devgn's Maidaan, which recorded only an 8.81% turnout on Friday.

As the weekend approaches, all eyes are on whether the film can rebound and gain momentum.

    About the film

'Crew 2' sequel on cards: Rhea Kapoor

Apart from the leading ladies, the film features Diljit Dosanjh and Kapil Sharma in supporting roles.

In a recent interview with Variety, Rhea expressed that the excitement surrounding Crew is so immense that she is open to considering a sequel.

She said, "This is the first film where I finished the film and a week later, my writers have messaged me and told me that they have an idea for the sequel."

    Explosive revelations

Earlier, 'Crew's Trupti Khamkar spoke about her experience

Meanwhile, actor Trupti Khamkar, who played a cop in Crew, recently shared insights into her experience.

Speaking with Zoom, Khamkar revealed that she was expected to complete her assigned tasks for a 12-hour shift within just 30 minutes.

"When you are working with a star cast, it is obvious that first their work will be done, and they will go home...then your work will start."

She expressed that the experience has instilled in her the confidence to tackle any challenge.
