CBFC removes abuses from 'The Batman,' 'Jhund' passes sans cuts

    What's the story

After struggling to function properly in the last two years, things are surely looking up now for those attached to the theater business in India.

Multiple major productions will premiere this month and the first week will be led by Jhund and Warner Bros.-backed The Batman.

Both are releasing this Friday and their ratings from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) are out.

    Modifications

What were the cuts suggested for 'The Batman'?

According to Bollywood Hungama, Matt Reeves's take on the Caped Crusader did not come out of CBFC's scrutiny untouched.

The board has apparently muted multiple abusive words throughout the length of the film.

Cuss words and phrases have been muted at 12 places, taking the final runtime to two hours and 56 minutes.

Moreover, the Robert Pattinson-starrer was handed a U/A certificate.

    Reports

'The Batman' may under release date change?

While the official release date of the movie on the Dark Knight remains to be March 4, reports suggest it might get a full-day release on Thursday (March 3).

And, accordingly, pre-booking has begun in many cities.

However, Maharashtra is holding back the pre-booking, expecting the state will announce 100% occupancy in theaters soon.

The Batman co-stars Colin Farrell, Zoe Kravitz, and Andy Serkis.

    Flying colors

Nagraj Manjule's 'Jhund' received zero cuts

As far as Jhund is concerned, the Nagraj Popatrao Manjule directorial has also bagged a U/A certificate.

But what is different from the superhero flick is that this sports drama was not told to make any cuts or changes.

Amitabh Bachchan plays soccer coach and NGO Slum Soccer founder Vijay Barse in the movie, which is reported to be 178 minutes long.

    Screens

Both these films will have to compete with last-week releases

Both Jhund and The Batman will have to fight with big releases from last week for the share of screens.

The competition includes big-ticketed money churners like Gangubai Kathiawadi, Valimai, and Bheemla Nayak.

While Alia Bhatt's Gangubai Kathiawadi collected Rs. 8.19cr on its first Monday, Valimai became Ajith Kumar's highest Day-1 grosser.

Pawan Kalyan and Rana Daggubati-led Bheemla Nayak has been breaking records, too.
