    What's the story

The Bombay High Court has listed Disha Salian's father's writ petition for hearing on April 2, 2025.

The petition, filed by Satish Salian, demands a fresh probe into Disha's death and the custodial interrogation of politician Aaditya Thackeray.

Disha, a talent manager once employed by the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, died on June 8, 2020, allegedly after falling from the 14th floor of a building in Malad, Mumbai.

    Petition details

Disha's mysterious death and petition details

Initially, the Mumbai Police had filed an Accidental Death Report (ADR) in the case.

However, Satish's petition alleges that his daughter was "brutally raped and murdered" and her death was covered up for political reasons.

Thackeray, a Shiv Sena-UBT leader, is specifically named in the petition.

    Investigation update

Maharashtra's junior home minister assured SIT probe will be expedited

Meanwhile, Maharashtra's junior home minister Yogesh Kadam has assured that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into Disha's death will be expedited.

This assurance came after BJP and Shiv Sena MLAs inquired about the SIT's progress.

Kadam said once they receive directions from the High Court, they will take "stern and appropriate action."

He added, "The law is the same for all, we will not spare anyone."

    Support

Rajput's relatives support fresh investigation into Disha's death

Notably, the petition seeking a fresh investigation into Disha's death has been supported by Rajput's kin.

His cousin, Neeraj Kumar Singh Bablu, believes that solving Disha's case will lead to answers about Rajput's mysterious death on June 14, 2020.

Rajput's father, KK Singh, also supported the petition, expressing that if through this they can get a conclusion on whether it was a suicide or murder, it would be beneficial.

    Thackeray's response

Meanwhile, Thackeray dismissed allegations as attempts to divert attention

Responding to the allegations, Thackeray dismissed them as attempts to deflect attention from other pressing matters.

He said, "Attempts are being made for the last five years to malign my image."

He hinted that the revival of the case was aimed at diverting public focus from other issues, such as recent statements by the Rashtriya Swayasevak Sangh (RSS) on the relevance of Aurangzeb's tomb.
