    Beyond Salman: Other B-town celebs who had run-ins with law

    What's the story

    Salman Khan was convicted in a two-decade-old blackbuck case. The sessions court handed a five-year-sentence to the Bollywood superstar.

    During the shooting of 'Hum Saath Saath Hain' in 1998, Khan hunted the rare species in Jodhpur.

    Well, this high-profile case is not the first one involving Bollywood personalities. Stars from the showbiz have had their share of run-ins with the law.

    Sanjay

    Bollywood's ugliest episode: Sanjay Dutt's arrest after 1993 bomb blasts

    After a series of bomb blasts rocked Mumbai in 1993, Sanjay Dutt was arrested for possessing an AK-56 rifle, a 9 mm pistol and ammunition; that he later destroyed.

    He was acquitted under TADA and convicted under Arms Act in November 2006.

    In 2013, he was given six years sentence and Dutt walked a free man from the Yerwada prison on February 27, 2016.

    Shiney

    Shiney Ahuja accused of rape by maid, later she retracted

    By starring in 'Gangster' and 'Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi', Shiney Ahuja proved his acting prowess. But a rape accusation by his maid in 2009 changed things.

    Shiney was given seven years imprisonment by a sessions court in 2011. Later, the maid retracted her statement but the trial court refused to accept it.

    In 2016, Bombay HC gave him bail on a bond of Rs. 50,000.

    John

    John Abraham spent 15 days in prison for rash driving

    John Abraham's love for bikes turned dangerous when he injured two while riding his Suzuki Hayabusa in 2006.

    He was booked for rash and negligent driving, but since injuries weren't serious he got bail by Bombay High Court.

    However, he had spent 15 days in prison after Bandra court's verdict in the matter.

    Sooraj

    Sooraj Pancholi charged with abetment of suicide of Jiah Khan

    Sooraj Pancholi was charged for abetment of suicide after Jiah Khan ended her life in 2013.

    Pancholi was arrested, two days after her death, on suspicion of abetting her suicide and spent 23 days in jail, before getting bail.

    Jiah's mother Rabiya Khan has always maintained that her daughter was murdered. The case is being investigated by Mumbai police and CBI.

    Monica

    When glam doll Monica Bedi spent years in prison

    Monica Bedi's and her beau D-company gangster Abu Salem were arrested in Portugal for entering the country unlawfully.

    They were extradited from Portugal in 2005, and a special CBI court sentenced her to five years term.

    In 2010, the Supreme Court upheld the conviction, but reduced her sentence to the period of imprisonment she had already served.
