'BB OTT S03' announcement post deleted amid Salman firing scare

    What's the story

Endemol Shine India, the brains behind the reality show Bigg Boss, dropped the much-anticipated BB OTT Season 3 post on their official Instagram last week.

The post featured host Salman Khan beckoning viewers to suggest contestants.

However, in a twist of events, the post has now vanished into the ether, raising doubts about the show's future.

This disappearance comes hot on the heels of a recent firing incident near Khan's residence last Sunday.

    Context

    Why does this story matter?

Notably, before Khan took the reins as the host for the S02, the first season of the Bigg Boss spin-off edition was hosted by Karan Johar.

Speculations regarding the third season have been swirling for weeks.

Initially, reports indicated a potential return of the show on May 15.

However, an Indian Express report from last week—citing insider sources—debunked these rumors, stating that a third season was not in the works.

    Confusion, thus, looms large.

    Security breach

Khan's residence was targeted in security breach

On April 14, a security breach occurred at Khan's residence, Galaxy Apartments, located in Mumbai's Bandra area.

Gunshots were fired outside the property, leading to the arrest of two individuals identified as Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal from Bhuj in Gujarat.

According to Mumbai Police sources, the attack was reportedly orchestrated by Lawrence Bishnoi's gang and carried out by Rohit Godara of the Bishnoi gang in Rajasthan.

Earlier, Bishnoi's brother Anmol claimed responsibility for the attack.

    Security upgrade

Security measures increased for Khan post-incident

Notably, the brothers' anger originates from the notorious 1998 incident where Khan was accused of hunting a blackbuck—an act considered offensive to the Bishnoi community.

In response, Khan's security detail has been significantly enhanced.

Previously guarded by two Personal Security Officers (PSOs), he now has two commandos, two escort vehicles, and 11 cops under Y+ category security assigned to him, reportedly.

Additionally, personnel in his security convoy will carry two automatic guns as part of the upgraded measures.

    Family response

Khan's family responded to security incident

Salim Khan, Salman's father, addressed the incident stating that they have been provided with extra police protection and assured protection for their friends by Mumbai Police.

He confirmed that Salman will continue his regular schedule without fear, adding there is nothing to fear as the matter is now with the police and full protection has been assured by the Maharashtra Government.

Meanwhile, Arbaaz Khan, Salman's brother, described the incident as "very disturbing" and "unnerving."
