    What's the story

Popular Indian playback singer Neha Kakkar's recent concert in Melbourne turned controversial after she showed up late.

The singer reportedly appeared on stage three hours after the scheduled time, triggering a wave of backlash from the audience.

Despite her on-stage apology and visible distress, many attendees expressed their disappointment, calling it unprofessional.

Videos of the incident soon went viral on social media, drawing widespread criticism among fans.

    Emotional response

Kakkar's emotional apology failed to quell the audience's anger

Upon her late arrival, Kakkar allegedly broke down in tears on stage.

She told the audience, "Guys, you are really sweet! You have been patient. Itni der se aap log wait kar rahe ho. I hate it, maine life mein kabhi kisi ko wait nahi karwaya hai (You have been waiting for so long. I hate it, I have never made anyone wait in my life)."

However, her emotional apology did little to quell the audience's anger.

    Fan reactions

Audience's frustration was evident in viral video

A viral video also saw the audience's anger as they shouted at Kakkar.

The comments included "Wapas jaao, apne hotel mein aaram karo (Go back! Rest in your hotel)," "This is not India, you're in Australia," and "We have been waiting for three hours."

One among them even mocked her saying, "Very good acting! This is not Indian Idol. You're not performing with kids."

    Online criticism

Social media backlash against Kakkar's late arrival

The incident triggered a storm of criticism on social media. One user wrote, "Came up the stage at 10pm for a 7:30 show. Then doing drama of crying....wrapped in less than an hour. Heights is unprincipled (sic)."

Another echoed similar sentiments, saying Kakkar should respect her audience's time.

Before her Melbourne concert, she performed in Sydney which turned out to be a hit. The audience appreciated her energy, and she also shared some pictures, captioning them, "Thank you Sydney."
