    What's the story

In the run-up to this year's Valentine's Day, Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor has extended support to 100 underprivileged couples whose lives have been affected by cancer.

The cause is close to the actor's heart as he had lost his mother to the fatal disease.

Kapoor has teamed up with the Cancer Patients Aid Association (CPAA) for this initiative.

    Here's more on this.

Pandemic taught us the importance of spreading love: Kapoor

Kapoor said, "The pandemic has taught all of us the importance of helping one another and spreading love whenever we can (sic)."

"I am supporting medical treatment for 100 underprivileged couples who are impacted by cancer, which means one partner is battling this deadly disease as the other one is supportive in every step of this fight," he added.

    Details

Kapoor had lost his mother to cancer

Kapoor's mother, Mona Shourie lost the battle to the deadly disease in 2012, just a few weeks before his debut movie Ishaqzaade hit theaters.

He has since remained an active participant in raising awareness about the disease and supporting people affected by it.

On his mother's eighth death anniversary last year, Kapoor had put a heartfelt note in her memory.

    Quote

He also urged others to join the initiative

Kapoor urged people to join the cause and extend support to cancer patients. "By supporting their yearly medical treatment worth Rs. 1 lakh per patient that takes care of expenses for chemotherapy and radiotherapies, surgeries and medicines, we can save them from draining out financially."

    Work

On the work front for Kapoor

Separately, on the work front, the actor recently announced the release date of his next venture, the sequel to Ek Villain.

The movie, titled Ek Villain Returns, will hit the theaters in February 2022.

He will also star in Bhoot Police alongside actor Saif Ali Khan.

He was last seen in director Ashutosh Gowariker's period drama Panipat (2019).
