    What's the story

Veteran actor and Bollywood star Alia Bhatt's mother Soni Razdan has publicly condemned the media's treatment of actor Rhea Chakraborty after the Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) closed the Sushant Singh Rajput death case.

Razdan called it a "modern-day witch hunt" and asked who would be held accountable for the distress caused to Chakraborty and her family.

Many Bollywood celebrities have rallied behind Chakraborty, including Razdan and Dia Mirza.

    Support

Razdan called for accountability and an apology to Chakraborty

In an Instagram post, Razdan had vented her anger, saying, "Should have decided this BEFORE they put the poor girl in jail and tried to destroy a reputation. This was nothing but a modern-day witch hunt."

She then asked, "The question is... where is the accountability? Who pays?"

Razdan even shared a comment that said, "The nation owes Rhea Chakraborty an apology."

    Solidarity

Mirza also came in support of Chakraborty

Mirza also came out in support of Chakraborty, questioning the role the media played in the case.

"Who in the media will have the grace to put out a written apology to Rhea Chakraborty and her family?," Mirza wrote on Instagram Stories.

Mirza went on to criticize the press, saying, "You went on a witch hunt. You caused deep anguish and harassment just for TRP's. Apologize. That's the very least you can do."

    Advocacy

Legal counsel highlighted Chakraborty's hardships during investigation

Chakraborty's lawyer, Satish Maneshinde, also discussed the hardships faced by Chakraborty and her family amid the investigation.

He highlighted that despite the absence of any wrongdoing, Chakraborty had to spend 27 days in jail before being released on bail.

Speaking to ETimes, Maneshinde applauded Chakraborty and her family for their strength, saying, "I salute her and her family for having kept silent and yet suffered the inhuman treatment they were meted."
