Aaradhya Bachchan (13) moves court again over fake health-related videos

    What's the story

Aaradhya Bachchan, the 13-year-old daughter of Bollywood actors Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, has filed a fresh petition in the Delhi High Court.

The plea seeks the removal of false and misleading information about her health from various websites.

This comes after a previous order directing Google, Bollywood Times, and other websites to remove such content identified by Bachchan in her earlier petition.

After Bachchan's petition, the Delhi HC sent a notice to Google on Monday.

    Legal action

Delhi HC issued a notice to Google following Bachchan's petition

This is the latest legal action in Bachchan's long-standing battle to safeguard her right to dignity—especially in relation to her physical and mental health.

Notably, on April 20, 2023, the Delhi HC directed YouTube to immediately take down fake videos about Bachchan's health.

The order came after Bachchan filed a petition stating that misleading videos on YouTube depicted her as gravely ill.

Some of the videos even falsely claimed that she had passed away.

    Continued violation

Non-compliance with court orders led to 2nd petition

The court had said then, "Circulating information with respect to the mental and physical health of the child is completely impermissible in law."

Bachchan was forced to file a second petition after some websites and social media platforms did not comply with the Delhi High Court's order.

Per recent reports, the court has fixed the next hearing on the matter for March 17.
