77th Golden Globes: Joaquin Phoenix wins Best Actor; 'Joker' loses
What's the story
The 77th annual Golden Globe Awards were held at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California, last night.
English comedian Ricky Gervais hosted the awards for the fifth time, hitting out at celebrities for working with large corporations such as Apple, Amazon, and Disney.
Meanwhile, Hollywood veteran Tom Hanks took home the coveted Cecil B. DeMille Award.

'1917' wins Best Picture in Drama
The Best Motion Picture (Drama) award went to 1917 (sorry Joker fans), while Once Upon a Time in Hollywood won in the Musical/Comedy category.
For Drama, Joaquin Phoenix won Best Actor for Joker, while Renée Zellweger was named Best Actress for her portrayal of Judy Garland in Judy.
For Musical/Comedy, Taron Egerton won Best Actor for Rocketman and Awkwafina Best Actress for The Farewell.

Sam Mendes wins Best Director (Drama)
Sam Mendes won Best Director (Drama) for 1917 while Quentin Tarantino won the Best Screenplay for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
Brad Pitt and Laura Dern won Best Supporting Performances for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Marriage Story respectively.
Hildur Guðnadóttir (Joker) won Best Original Score while Rocketman's "I'm Gonna Love Me Again" won Best Original Song.

'Missing Link' wins Best Animated Feature Film
Chris Butler's Missing Link won the Best Animated Feature Film award, defeating the more prominent Frozen II, How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, The Lion King, and Toy Story 4. The South Korean film Parasite won in the Best Foreign Language Film category.
TV awards
'Succession' and 'Fleabag' win Best Television Series
For Best Television Series, Succession won amongst Drama TV shows, while Fleabag won in the Musical/Comedy category.
For Drama, Brian Cox and Olivia Colman won Best Performances for Succession and The Crown, respectively.
With Cox's win, Game of Thrones lost in the only category it was nominated—Kit Harington for Best Actor (Drama).
For Musical/Comedy, Ramy Youssef (Ramy) and Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag) won Best Performances.

'Chernobyl' wins Golden Globe for Best Miniseries
In the Best Supporting Performance in a TV Series, Miniseries or TV Movie category, Stellan Skarsgård and Patricia Arquette emerged as winners for Chernobyl and The Act respectively.
Chernobyl also won the award for Best Miniseries or Television Film.
Meanwhile, Russell Crowe (The Loudest Voice) and Michelle Williams (Fosse/Verdon) won Best Performances in a Miniseries or Television Film.
