    DU cut-offs to remain unaffected by CBSE results

    What's the story

    The marginal reduction in the number of students scoring 90% is unlikely to affect Delhi University's cutoffs as the number of students scoring 95% and above has increased by 7%.

    10,091 CBSE students scored 95% and above this year compared to 9,351 in 2016 and 63,257 students scored 90% and above, less by 140 from 2016.

    6-year-old boy burnt to death in fire DLF Phase-1's fire

    In the early hours of 29th May, a fire broke out in a slum area near Sikanderpur marble market in DLF Phase-1.

    Approximately 105 huts were decimated by the fire which also caused a 6-year-old boy to burn to death.

    According to fire officials, the fire was caused by a leakage in an LPG cylinder.

    Farman was sleeping when the hut collapsed on him.

    Gurugram

    7 Gurugram RWAs awarded Rs. 5 lakh each by MCG

    Rs. 5 lakh was given to 7 Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) of Gurugram by the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram for ensuring the collection of property tax by more than 80% of the residents.

    The reward was given to the RWAs for maintenance and development activities.

    MCG officials claim the initiative aims at encouraging the payment of property tax dues.

    Delhi rains reduce pollution, bring in cool weather

    The overnight rain on 28th May brought down the levels of both mercury and pollution on Monday morning.

    Officials from the Meteorological department further added that the temperature of the city would stay below 40 degrees Celsius till at least Friday.

    The Air Quality Index of Delhi also improved with PM2.5 and PM10 levels progressing from 'poor' to 'moderate.'

    Soon after the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced results for the Class 12 board exams on 28th May, Delhi's restaurants are offering a host of discounts for students.

    The discounts vary according to the bracket of your percentage.

    Some of these restaurants are: Cafe Indian Delight, Kirti Nagar, Gurugram's Prankster, Molecule, Nukkad Cafe in SDA Market, etc.

    CBSE Results

    Private schools fall behind government ones once again

    Schools run by the Delhi Government witnessed a higher pass percentage than private schools in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) results that were declared on 28th May.

    Deputy CM and Education Minister, Manish Sisodia said this has happened for the second time in a row.

    The overall pass percentage in Delhi this year was 88.37%, up from 87.01% in 2016.
