    What's the story

    The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is one of the most competitive exams for engineering graduates in the country.

    The national-level exam is conducted for admitting candidates to postgraduate courses in engineering/technology but GATE scores are also used for PSU recruitment.

    The GATE-2020 online application process is set to begin in September, and here's everything to know about the application form correction.

    Details

    IIT-Delhi will conduct GATE-2020 exam in February

    IIT-Delhi will be conducting the GATE-2020 examination which is scheduled to be held on February 1, 2, 8, and 9 next year.

    This time, the examination will be held in as many as 25 engineering disciplines (25 papers) - one more than last time - with the addition of Biomedical Engineering as a new paper to the list of subjects.

    Application

    Application process for GATE-2020 will begin on September 3

    GATE-2020 online application process will commence on September 3 on the official GATE IIT-Delhi website.

    The last date to fill the GATE application form online is September 24. However, the extended closing date for submitting online application (with late fee) is October 1. Admit cards will be released on January 3. After the examination in February, IIT-Delhi will announce the results on March 16.

    Changes

    What changes can be made to the application form?

    GATE applicants should fill their form carefully and ensure there are no mistakes in it as corrections/modifications can be done only in some fields. GATE form correction is a one-time facility.

    Candidates can make changes to the GATE-2020 Application Form in these fields: category, gender, PwD status, name, date of birth, name of the parent/guardian, degree/qualification details, exam center or city, and exam paper.

    Important dates

    Important dates for GATE-2020 application form correction

    GATE-2020 application form correction facility would be available from the last week of September. Though IIT-Delhi hasn't officially announced the dates, candidates could be allowed to modify their exam paper between third-fourth weeks of October.

    Correction facility for applicant's status/category/gender would be available between last week of October and first week of November. Change in the exam city can be requested until November 15.

    Fees

    Additional fees applicable for GATE application form corrections

    The GATE-conducting authority will charge an additional fee from applicants for certain corrections/changes.

    For modifying exam centers, candidates must pay Rs. 400 and for changing exam papers, the fee is Rs. 300.

    Also, for changing gender from female to male/transgender; or category from SC/ST to General/OBC; or PwD Status from "Yes" to "No", candidates are required to pay an additional fee of Rs. 750.

    Procedure

    How to make corrections to the GATE-2020 application form?

    To avail GATE-2020 application form correction facility, applicants should visit the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) portal and log in using their enrollment number/email-ID and password.

    Next, candidates need to find the option for application form correction, make the required changes, and confirm. They are required to pay the prescribed additional fees to make changes after which they can submit their corrected application.
