    What's the story

Just days after increasing the prices of their prepaid services in India, telecom giants Vodafone Idea and Bharti Airtel have removed the FUP limit on voice calls for all unlimited plans.

With this move, subscribers of the two telecom companies can now make unlimited voice calls to other networks without any restrictions.

    Here are the finer details.

    Confirmation

Reliance Jio continues to charge for non-Jio voice calls

With the new prepaid plans, Airtel introduced an FUP limit ranging from 1,000 off-net calling minutes on monthly packs to 12,000 minutes on the annual pack. However, after drawing ire from subscribers, Airtel quickly removed the limit on all plans.

Similarly, Vodafone Idea also lifted the calling cap limit, leaving Reliance Jio as the only major telecom company to currently charge for non-Jio calls.

    New tariffs

Meanwhile, here's a look at Vodafone Idea's new plans

Vodafone Idea's new prepaid plans are estimated to be costlier by upto 42% compared to earlier packs. As part of the revised tariffs, the telco has introduced new Free Recharge Coupons (FRCs) starting at Rs. 97.

The company has also updated its unlimited packs, offering upto 3GB of daily data, 100 SMSes per day, and upto 365-days validity, with prices starting at Rs. 149.

    Information

Airtel's unlimited plans become expensive by upto 47%

Airtel's prepaid plans have seen a tariff hike in the range of 50 paise/day to Rs. 2.85/day. The Rs. 169 and Rs. 199 packs have been merged into a Rs. 248 plan which translates to a 47% hike for Rs. 169 plan subscribers.

    Latest additions

Airtel has also introduced new affordable unlimited packs

Airtel has announced new Rs. 219, Rs. 399, and Rs. 449 prepaid plans, offering upto 2GB data per day, upto 100 daily SMSes, and upto 56 days of total validity. Notably, all plans also offer unlimited voice calls across all networks in India.

Further, these plans offer free Hello Tunes, unlimited Wynk music, and complimentary access to Airtel Xstream app.
