    Sensex slips over 1,450 points, Nifty settles below 15,800

    What's the story

    On Monday, the stock market was in the hands of bear, as the Sensex slipped 2.76%, to 52,846.7 points while the Nifty dropped 2.71%, to 15,774.4 points.

    The midcap indices traded in line with the broader market, witnessing a bearish run as the Nifty Midcap 50 shed 230.35 points to 7,355.3.

    Who were the biggest gainers and losers?

    On Monday, Nestle and Bajaj Auto emerged as the top-performing stocks, edging up 0.47% and 0.01%, respectively.

    Nifty IT, NIFTY MEDIA and NIFTY METAL emerged as the most losing sectors, dropping 4.3%, 4.14%, and 4%, respectively.

    Among the biggest stock losers were Bajaj Finserv, Bajaj Finance, and IndusInd Bank, which plunged 7.08%, 5.46%, and 5.23%, respectively.

    Commodities

    INR down 0.26% against the US Dollar

    The Indian rupee (INR) slipped 0.26% to settle at an all-time low of Rs. 78.05 against the US Dollar in the forex trade on Monday.

    The gold and silver futures prices finished in red. While the gold futures dropped to Rs. 51,280, silver futures tumbled to settle at Rs. 60,920.

    Meanwhile, crude oil future prices declined by $1.78, or 1.48% to $118.66 per barrel.

    On Monday, the Asian markets traded in the red with Shanghai Composite Index, Hang Seng, and Nikkei plunging 0.89%, 3.39%, and 3.01% to 3,255.55 points, 21,067.58 points, and 26,987.44 points, respectively. In the US, NASDAQ ended in the red, falling 3.52%, to 11,340.02 points.

    How have the popular cryptocurrencies fared today?

    The world's most popular cryptocurrency Bitcoin is trading at $24,179.16 which is 11.97% down as compared to yesterday. Meanwhile, Ethereum is down by 14.76% and is currently trading at $1,248.16.

    Tether, BNB, and Cardano are listed at $0.9984 (0.05% down), $226.31 (11.9% down), and $0.4589 (10.69% down), respectively.

    Finally, Dogecoin is trading 15.08% lower than yesterday at $0.05598.

    The fuel prices in Delhi remain unchanged on Monday, with diesel priced at Rs. 89.66/liter and petrol costing Rs. 96.76/liter. Meanwhile, in Mumbai, diesel costs Rs. 97.26/liter and petrol is priced at Rs. 111.33/liter.
