    Samsung most trusted brand in India for second consecutive year

    What's the story

    According to the Brand Trust Report 2018 by TRA Research, Samsung is the most trusted brand in India followed by rivals Sony and LG, respectively.

    Notably, the top three brands have retained their position since last year.

    They are followed by the Tata Group (4th), which moved up a place from last year and is the only Indian brand to feature in top five.

    Category Leaders

    Patanjali tops FMCG, SBI tops BFSI categories

    In terms of category leaders, the State Bank of India (21st) topped in BFSI, Patanjali (13th) in FMCG, Arrow (43rd) in formal wear, Pepsi (44th) in F&B, Amazon (53rd) in online retailer-diversified, and Honda (7th) in the auto sector.

    Nike (8th) emerged as the leader in the personal accessories sportswear category by jumping a whopping 29 spots over last year.

    Top 10 brands: Homegrown Tata Group beats Apple

    Other brands that featured in top 10 are Apple (5th), dropped by a notch since last year, Dell (6th), rose by two ranks, and HP (9th). At the 10th position is Maruti Suzuki, another homegrown brand which fell three spots over last year's rankings.

    Big Gainers

    Top 20: New entrants see big names like Reliance, Google

    These companies saw big jumps in their brand trust index since last year.

    OPPO (11th) was ranked 29 in 2017, while Puma (12th) climbed 32 places from last year.

    Reliance Group (14th) jumped from the 22nd spot in 2017. BMW (15th) gained 30 places, while Google (18th) finally entered the top-20 from its 40th position last year.

    Vivo jumped 39 places to be ranked 20th

    According to the study, the top four greatest gainers over last year are Puma, BMW, Google, and Vivo (20th), which jumped 39 places. The report covered 2,488 consumer-influencers across 16 cities in India. It can be procured as a 200-page hardbound version for Rs. 14,000.
