    What's the story

Paytm appears to be readying itself to become the third major e-commerce entity besides Flipkart and Amazon in India. It recently shifted 800 employees from One97 Communications to Paytm Ecommerce Pvt Ltd which runs Paytm Mall.

Reportedly, 2,000 more will be hired this year to bolster Paytm's online shopping platform. Paytm's current employee strength stands at 5,000.

    Here's all about it.

    Hiring

    Big changes are taking place

Recently, One97 Communications vice-president Amit Sinha was chosen as the chief operating officer of Paytm Mall. Along with it, Saurabh Vashishtha for marketing, Amit Bagaria for customer experience, Bhushan Patil for logistics and Sunil Goyal for product and technology were also named.

It is reported that the firm has plans to hire 3,000 agents who will be focusing on its offline-to-online strategy countrywide.

Going for local shopkeepers in tier-2 and tier-3 cities

The plan is to get more local shopkeepers into selling their inventory on the Paytm Mall. The e-commerce entity is targeting more shopkeepers based in tier-2 and tier-3 cities.

It's soon-to-be recruited agents will also provide these shopkeepers with Paytm Mall QR code solution, which the firm claims will be beneficial for their day-to-day business practices.

    O2O platform

Its getting the house in order

Paytm said that their O2O platform will not only boost sales of local stores via bringing in new customers for them through Paytm Mall, but they'll also be given access to customer analytics which would help them cater to the customers better.

Paytm Mall has recently raised $200 million funding from SAIF Partners and Alibaba Group Holdings.
