Airtel's scheme for kids: Enables two users to share plan

Telecom service provider Airtel has rolled out a scheme under which postpaid users can add a new member to their monthly plan, at no additional cost.
The scheme, called 'Add-on Connections,' aims to provide parents and their children with the same benefits without having to pay for two different plans.

Users can add up to two members in their plans
In the plan for Rs. 799, postpaid users can add a single person as an 'add-on' to share the benefits of monthly Airtel services, while the plan for Rs. 1,199 allows users to add two additional members.
'Add-ons' can enjoy unlimited voice calls and share data benefits with all their co-subscribers.
Notably, Airtel has not divulged the fair usage policy for this scheme.

The company is also offering a rental discount of Rs. 100 on all postpaid plans.
So effectively, for Rs. 699, two postpaid users can share 50 GB of data, that gets carried over to the next month, and make unlimited local and STD calls.
Customers can also avail benefits like free Amazon Prime membership for a year and access to Airtel apps.

Airtel tries to prevent postpaid users from going prepaid
With the scheme, Airtel aims to make users stay on postpaid connections after subscribers recently started converting to prepaid plans due to lower tariffs.
Earlier, Airtel had rolled out a Family Share scheme, which was quite similar to 'Add-on Connections,' except that it did not provide unlimited voice calls and charged Rs. 99 for adding a member to share the plan.
