    What's the story

Dinesh Nandwana, the 62-year-old chairman emeritus of Vakrangee Limited, died on Friday during an Enforcement Directorate (ED) raid at his Andheri (East), Mumbai residence.

According to reports, he suffered a heart attack.

However, the cause of his death remains undetermined until a postmortem examination is conducted.

Accordingly, the MIDC police have registered an accidental death report following the incident.

    Investigation details

    ED raid and health complications

The ED's Jalandhar unit, with help from the local division, was conducting raids at multiple locations, including Nandwana's premises, when he developed health complications.

No complaints of ill-treatment have been made by Nandwana's family following the incident.

HT, citing ED sources, claimed that Nandwana had a history of cardiac problems and had been under stress related to his business, which may have contributed to his sudden demise.

    Company statement

    Vakrangee Limited mourns Nandwana's death

Vakrangee Limited, known for its network of retail outlets serving underserved populations across India, issued a statement expressing "deep sorrow" over Nandwana's passing.

The company described him as a first-generation entrepreneur who significantly contributed to its growth.

"He has been instrumental in molding Vakrangee from a modest consultancy company to a prominent force...and has scaled the company to a new orbit of growth," the statement read.
