    What's the story

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) is preparing to recall three of its most popular automatic scooters, Honda Activa 125, Honda Grazia and Honda Aviator, that were manufactured between February 7 and March 16 this year.

A total of 56,194 units are estimated to be recalled due to a problem with the front suspension having faulty forks.

    Here are the details.

    Details

Honda will notify all affected buyers

The automatic scooter models reportedly have an excessive hardness in a bolt of the front fork.

The company is expected to notify all the affected buyers individually via text message, e-mail or a phone call regarding the recall.

Honda will inspect the models and replace the faulty part free of cost. It will also schedule a session for the same at its workshop.

    Information

Check if your scooter will be recalled on Honda's website

Honda will also update its official website to set up a dedicated section regarding the recall. Once that happens, buyers will be able to enter their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on an automatic detector to check if their vehicle is a part of the recall.

    Background

Grazia is Honda's new flagship scooter

The Honda Activa 125 and the Honda Grazia have the same 124.9cc air-cooled four-stroke engine, with a peak torque of 10.54 Nm at 5,000 rpm.

On the other hand, Honda Aviator comes with an 110cc engine air-cooled four-stroke engine with a peak torque of 8.83 Nm at 5,500 rpm.

The Honda Grazia is the company's new flagship scooter launched in November 2017.

    Information

Activa 4G and Activa 5G not affected by the recall

It should be noted is that Honda's Activa 4G and Activa 5G models are not affected by the recall. This is because both the scooters use a different front suspension setup than the affected models. The Activa 5G was launched last month at Rs. 52,460.
