BSNL revises prepaid plans to offer 25 times more data

    What's the story

In a bid to take on competitors like Reliance Jio, Airtel and Vodafone, BSNL has updated some of its prepaid plans to offer up to 25 times more data benefits.

The state-run telco has revised its Rs. 35, Rs. 53, and Rs. 395 prepaid packs to provide its subscribers with up to 2GB of daily data.

Here's a look at the updated plans.

    Plan #1

Details about the updated Rs. 35 pack

BSNL's Rs. 35 pack is a short term pocket-friendly prepaid recharge plan.

Under this plan, the telco is now offering 5GB of mobile data to its subscribers - a 25% increase over the previous benefit of 200MB.

However, the shortcoming of this plan is its validity. You get only 5 days of active services with this prepaid plan.

    Information

The Rs. 53 prepaid pack has also been revised

BSNL has also updated its budget-friendly Rs. 53 prepaid plan to offer 8GB of data for a total validity period of 14 days. Before the revision, this plan came with only 250MB of data benefit but for 21 days.

    Plan #3

The Rs. 395 plan now offers unlimited calling benefits

After the revision, the Rs. 395 prepaid plan provides 2GB of daily data, unlimited calling benefit (except Mumbai and Delhi circles), and free national roaming for a validity period of 71 days.

Earlier, this plan offered the same data quota but the free calling benefit was restricted to 3,000 minutes on net voice calls and 1,800 minutes off-net voice calls.

    Competitor

Meanwhile, here's a look at rival Jio's Rs. 399 plan

BSNL has revised its Rs. 395 plan to take on rival Reliance Jio's Rs. 399 plan.

Under this plan, you get 1.5GB of daily data, unlimited calling, and 100 SMSes per day for a total validity of 84 days.

Additionally, Jio's plan also offers complimentary access to Jio apps including popular services such as JioTV, JioCinema, and JioNews among others.
