    What's the story

As part of the company's plan to launch a slew of new models in India next year, BMW India will introduce the new X2 crossover in 2019.

The BMW X2, dubbed as a Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV), is based on the UKL 2 platform.

Notably, the upcoming crossover retains the looks and features of the previous generation BMW X1.

    Here's more about BMW X2.

    Exteriors

    BMW X2: At a glance

Up front, the BMW X2 sports the company's signature kidney grille with sharp J-shaped LED headlamps, a short bonnet, large frontal cut-outs for air intake, and flattened wheel arches.

Further, the crossover shape culminates into an angular tailgate where the rear houses LED taillights, a diffuser, and twin exhausts.

The BMW X2 comes with 18-inch alloy wheels as standard and 19-inch units as optional.

    Interiors

    Inside the cabin

Inside the cabin, there's an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that'll come with BMW's iDrive, and Apple CarPlay (Android Auto not confirmed as of now).

Moreover, a full Head-up display and automatic cruise control will be offered as optional.

The car will also come with a bunch of safety features including lane departure, speed limit, automatic high beams, and pedestrian collision warnings.

    Engine and power

    Under the hood

The BMW X2 will be offered in several engine options including the 2-liter petrol and diesel options, and a 1.5-liter three-cylinder petrol engine which BMW uses in its MINI range of cars.

Further, the crossover will come with the front-wheel-drive transmission system as standard and an all-wheel-drive transmission as optional.

In India, the upcoming X2 is expected to be priced at Rs. 45 lakh.
