    What's the story

Vidyaranyapura in Bengaluru north is on its way to becoming the city's first smart ward.

The state government and defense PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) have joined hands to introduce a host of advanced technologies like inter-connected CCTV cameras, mini Unmanned Aerial Vehicles/drones, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT).

Vidyaranyapura was chosen because of its proximity to BEL.

The project will be implemented on pilot basis and if it is found to be feasible, it will be extended to other wards of Bengaluru and then the entire state.

"So far, the plan is to provide both governing agencies and citizens a host of interlinked facilities to create a better ward," said a BEL officer.
