    Tata 'Kaziranga edition' of SUVs to launch tomorrow; what's new?

    What's the story

    Homegrown automaker Tata Motors will launch limited-run 'Kaziranga Edition' variants of its Punch, Nexon, Harrier, and Safari SUVs in India tomorrow i.e. February 23.

    As for the highlights, the models will flaunt cosmetic changes both inside and out, and shall offer new tech-based features.

    They will be available with a choice of BS6-compliant petrol as well as diesel engines.

    Why does this story matter?

    The Tata Punch, Nexon, Harrier, and Safari have been available in India for quite some time and are quite popular with buyers.

    The introduction of their limited-run Kaziranga Editions is expected to boost sales here even more.

    The four models are expected to be priced competitively and will surely raise the competition in the four-wheeler segment.

    Exteriors

    The cars will have black wheels and Rhino badging

    The Kaziranga Editions of the Tata Punch, Nexon, Harrier, and Safari, will sport blacked-out alloy wheels, a Grassland Beige paint option, and a Rhino badge on the front fenders.

    The cars will also have sleek headlights, wrap-around taillamps, blacked-out B-pillars, ORVMs, roof rails, a roof-mounted antenna, and a rear window wiper.

    However, the dimensions of the cars will remain unchanged.

    Interiors

    The vehicles will have dual-tone leatherette upholstery

    The Kaziranga Editions will have a black dashboard, dual-tone leatherette upholstery, and a silhouette of a one-horned rhinoceros on the front seat headrests.

    The Punch will get connected car technology, while Nexon will offer auto-dimming IRVM, ventilated front seats, air purifier, wireless charger, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

    Harrier will pack all the features of the Nexon barring the auto-dimming IRVM.

    Performance

    A choice of petrol and diesel engines will be offered

    The Punch Kaziranga Edition might run on a 1.2-liter petrol engine (84.8hp/113Nm).

    The Nexon should be offered with a 1.2-liter turbo-petrol mill (118.3hp/170Nm) and a 1.5-liter turbo-diesel motor (108.4hp/260Nm).

    Finally, the Harrier and Safari should run on a 2.0-liter diesel unit (167.6hp/350Nm).

    Transmission duties should be taken care of by a 5-speed MT, 5-speed AMT, 6-speed MT, and a 6-speed AMT gearbox.

    How much will they cost?

    The Kaziranga Editions of the Tata Punch, Nexon, Harrier, and Safari should carry a premium over their standard counterparts, which begin at Rs. 5.64 lakh, Rs. 7.39 lakh, Rs. 14.49 lakh, and Rs. 14.99 lakh, respectively (all prices, ex-showroom).
