    What's the story

Kia Motors has announced a voluntary recall for 1,380 units of its pre-facelift EV6 model in India.

The affected vehicles were produced between March 3, 2022, and April 14, 2023.

The recall comes on the back of a mandatory software update in the integrated charging control unit (ICCU) to improve the charging process and performance of the auxiliary battery.

Kia's proactive approach to improve ownership experience

Kia has clarified that the recall is a proactive measure to update the software of the ICCU in affected units. The goal is to enhance the ownership experience for its customers.

The company has notified India's Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) about this voluntary recall initiative and has begun contacting respective owners regarding this campaign.

Kia's EV6 facelift and future plans

Earlier this year in January, Kia India unveiled the facelifted version of the EV6 at the Bharat Mobility Expo.

The updated model, launched globally in May 2024, comes with several interior and exterior enhancements.

The 2025 model is equipped with a more powerful 84kWh battery, replacing the previous 77.4kWh pack. This upgrade allows rear-wheel drive models to achieve a range of up to 494km.
